![]() THE ATHENS ACADEMY PRAISES MEDASSET The Athens Academy at its panegyric Meeting on 30th December 2003, in the presence of His Excellency the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr K. Stefanopoulos, bestowed a Natural Sciences Commendation on MEDASSET, the Mediterranean Association to Save the Sea Turtles, for its “unstinting work for the turtles of the Mediterranean”. The eulogy by the President of the Academy, Professor G. Skalkeas stated, “The Association being honoured is distinguished for its significant activities aimed at the protection of sea turtles throughout the Mediterranean, particularly in Greece. It has been recognised internationally in relation to the protection of coastal nesting areas, conducting research studies on shores where nesting takes place, including Turkey, Cyprus, Greece, Lebanon and elsewhere, as well as for its activities to sensitise public opinion.” A good start for the New Year! |
