THE MEDASSET ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION KIT - NOW AVAILABLE IN ARABIC |
|
| We are happy to welcome in the New Year with the news that, following the great success of the Greek and English versions of our Environmental Education Kit "The Mediterranean Sea, a Source of Life" in 2003, it has now been adapted, translated and reproduced in Arabic and is ready for free dissemination to schools in countries around the Mediterranean. This has been made possible through collaboration with the Hellenic Children's Museum and Kaleidoscope Publications and generous donations from the Stavros S. Niarchos Foundation, UNEP/MAP, RAC/SPA (UNEP/MAP), and the Prince of Wales Foundation (UK). The original Greek and English versions of the Kit were produced in 2003 in association with the Hellenic Children's Museum and Kaleidoscope Publications, funded by the Stavros S. Niarchos Foundation, and has already been disseminated free of charge to thousands of schools in Greece and other countries around the Mediterranean and the World. This 50-page publication is an invaluable tool for teachers and educational group leaders, which aims to engage 6-12 year old children from all over the Mediterranean region in creative activities, instilling knowledge, environmental values and a sense of regional identity and responsibility. It contains a colourful illustrated map of the Mediterranean Sea, six Fact Sheets, Activity Sheets (for two age groups), Guidelines for Educators, and a Bibliography for further reading. Our aim is to produce the Kit in other Mediterranean languages, funds permitting. |
