and ingestion of "Small Garbage", accounts for the deaths of over 100,000 sea mammals
and sea turtles in the world each year!

AKAMAS, CYPRUS AND KAZANLI, TURKEY STILL AWAITING CONSERVATION MEASURES

At the 26th Meeting of the Standing Committee to the Bern Convention at Council of
Europe in Strasbourg, on the 27th to the 30th November the cases of the highly endangered
green turtles nesting at Akamas in Cyprus and Kazanli in Turkey were discussed. Both of
these significant nesting beaches are still waiting for conservation measures to be implemented.
