Q: What type of activities am I likely to be involved in?

Volunteers are typically involved with office duties, including assisting with the setting up of a Sea Turtle Resource Centre, filing, fundraising etc. However, we try to make use of the volunteer’s field of expertise wherever possible. Depending on the season, volunteers may help with assessment surveys on the island of Zakynthos.

Q:Can I stay longer/less than the allocated time span?

This can be discussed on an individual basis, depending on our volunteer programme.

Q:Does MEDASSET offer any financial compensation (travel, food etc)?

The only travel costs MEDASSET will provide are for any local tasks specifically requested (out of pocket expenses).

Q:Will I be able to see sea turtles?

Volunteers that can contribute time over the summer may help with assessment work on the island of Zakynthos, where sea turtles may be seen. However, most research and conservation programmes are carried out in eastern Mediterranean countries. You will however be contributing significantly to their welfare by giving some of your time.

Q:Can I take some time off to visit Athens/Greece while volunteering?

This can be arranged on an individual basis, depending on the volunteer programme. Volunteers often take long week-ends to nearby islands.

Q:How much money should I expect to spend during my stay?
