Scientific/Field Officer
Principal duties
MEDASSET is seeking someone to coordinate and carry out actions relating to programmes that aim to protect sea turtles in Greece and the wider Mediterranean region. The post is a full time one, based in Athens, Greece, but demanding a substantial amount of travel.
Required skills / training / experience
- Tertiary Education Diploma and/or post-graduate degree in a relevant subject area (biology, marine biology, marine studies, environmental studies)
- A minimum of 5 years’ proven experience in a related field
- Advanced used of English, both written and spoken
- Significant experience in the coordination and management of environmental programmes
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Availability to travel frequently; current travel documents
- Good communication/presentation/interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to take initiative
- Working knowledge of Greek
Desirable skills / training / experience
- International experience of sea turtle conservation programmes and/or programmes pertaining to fisheries and building partnerships or collaborations with fishermen.
- Working knowledge of the Turkish language
- Previous participation in the conservation activities of Environmental NGOs
- Driver’s License
