The Regional Activity Centre for Specially Protected Areas of the UNEP Mediterranean Action Plan (RAC-SPA, UNEP/MAP) created a “Sea Turtle Handling Guide for Fishermen” in English, French, Croatian, Turkish, Spanish, Slovenian and Arabic.
MEDASSET translated and produced the guide in Greek and distributed it across Greece with the help of the Greek Ministries of Merchant Marine, Environment and Agriculture, as well as in collaboration with fishermen associations, port authorities, local NGOs and various other organisations.
The waterproof guide provides simple and practical advice with illustrations to enable fishermen to deal with turtles that are accidentally caught in fishing gear.
