We Invite you to the International Bycatch Meeting

The “International Bycatch Meeting: Bringing forward solutions for effective monitoring and reduction of the incidental catch of vulnerable species”, will take place in Malaga, Spain from 04- 06 October at La Noria

The “International Bycatch Meeting” aims to demonstrate the current state-of-the-art in addressing bycatch in the Atlantic and Mediterranean region, with particular emphasis on the needs and challenges associated with the implementation of bycatch programmes in different areas and fisheries. It aims to share experiences on how bycatch data are collected, identify effective solutions towards reducing bycatch, define ways to replicate best practices and discuss future directions.

The meeting is open to interested experts and stakeholders to encourage constructive dialogue across a broad range of actors and fields. It is addressed to scientists, managers, fishing gear manufacturers, conservation organisations, and representatives of the fishery sector.

The meeting is organised by IUCN Mediterranean in collaboration with BirdLife Europe & Central Asia, ACCOBAMS, FAO-GFCM, MEDASSET,  SPA/RAC and WWF Mediterranean Marine Initiative in the framework of the MedBycatch project
